Depart Nairobi at 08:00 for Nanyuki town (approx. 4 hrs) for lunch. Proceed to Sirimon Gate (2,440m). Follow the track uphill through montane forest which opens into heathland after about 3 hours. The track then veers right to Old Moses Camp (3,300m). Dinner and overnight at Old Moses Camp.
After breakfast, follow the track uphill forking left at the junction. Cross the Ontulili River after about one hour, then contour through moorland crossing Liki North before ascending to the spectacular Mackinders Valley with panoramic views towards the main peaks. Dinner and overnight at Shipton Camp (4,200m).
A dedicated acclimatisation day at Shipton Camp. Walk to Kami Hut and descend to the Hauseberg Lakes (Hauseberg Tarn and Nanyuki Tarn) — a stunning high-altitude excursion that helps the body adjust to altitude. Return to Shipton Camp for dinner and overnight.
Depart at 03:00 up a steep stony quarry cutting through a cliff face with views of the lower Hall Tarns. Reach Point Lenana (4,985m) at approximately 06:30 — just in time for a magnificent sunrise. Descend to Mintos Hut (2 hrs) for breakfast, then continue the long descent to Mount Meru Bandas (2,950m) via the spectacular Chogoria route. Dinner and overnight at the Bandas.
After breakfast, walk 2 hours (15km) through forest clearance to meet your 4x4 transfer vehicle. Drive to Chogoria Village where you connect with your transfer back to Nairobi, arriving at approximately 15:00. End of trek.
