Itinerary
Pick-up from your hotel at 07:00 with scenic stopovers at the Mwea rice plantations and Meru town, plus sweeping views of Mt. Kenya en route. Arrive at Meru National Park in the late afternoon for an evening game drive in search of the Big Five, complete with a beautiful bush sunset. Dinner and overnight at Ikweta Safari Camp.
After breakfast, set out for a whole day game drive with a packed picnic lunch. A special highlight is a visit to Meru's Black Rhino Sanctuary — one of Kenya's most important conservation areas. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart Meru for Samburu Game Reserve, arriving in the afternoon. Check in at the Umoja Women's Camp — a unique lodge owned and run by Samburu women. Have lunch, then head out at 16:00 for an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at camp.
After breakfast, head west with a picnic lunch to Shaba Game Reserve — a dramatic volcanic landscape that forms an extension of Samburu. Spend the full day exploring. Note: on very hot days, game drives run until 11:30 to prevent vehicle overheating. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, drive through the agricultural highlands with stunning Mt. Kenya views to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Check in at Comfort Garden Sweetwaters — right next to the Rongai Gate — and have lunch. Ol Pejeta is home to the world's last two female Southern white rhinos, the famous blind rhino, chimpanzees, and the Big Five. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi passing through historic Nyeri — hometown of the Scout movement founder Baden Powell and home of the legendary Treetops Hotel, where the late Queen Elizabeth II received news of her father's passing. Arrive back at your Hotel in the evening. End of safari.
