Welcome to Amboseli

Amboseli National Park sits at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain — Mt. Kilimanjaro (5,895m) — on the Kenya-Tanzania border. Covering 392 km², the park is most famous for its large free-roaming elephant herds and the spectacular backdrop of Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped summit, which provides one of the most iconic wildlife photography settings on the continent.

The park is fed by underground streams from Kilimanjaro, creating swamps and springs that attract dense concentrations of wildlife even in dry seasons. Amboseli is home to five distinct ecosystems — open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush, swamps and marshes, and the open savannah — making it exceptionally rich in biodiversity. The Maasai people have coexisted with wildlife here for generations.
